Beats media
Media of course plays a crucial role in most news and publishing endeavors today and of course is inherent to all media libraries and management! In Beats there is are features such as media:
- upload
- storage
- catalog
- ingest
- automatic and manual tagging and metadata
- transcoding and publishing
Uploading media
- Open “Media” section from the menu.
- Choose the folder where you want to save your image(s).
- Drop the image(s) to the area, or select the files.

Wait until your file is uploaded.

Viewing and editing media
By passing the “mouse” on the media item you will see

Media Player
You can view the media in the Media Player. Click the left ‘Play’ icon to open the Media Player:

You can enlarge the video in the upper right corner of the “Media Player”.

Media viewer
Click the edit icon to open the Media Viewer.You can see the video in the viewer. This is the section, to be expanded in a later chapter, where you can set time-line segments, cue-points, subtitles and editing such as cut head and tail.

You can view and edit metadata to the media.

You can download various versions of the media (original, proxy etc)

Assigning media to a (channel) story
- Open Story Composer from the menu
- Open your Story from the respective folder
- In the right panel your Story details are shown
- Click The “Media” tab.Find your media from the folders.
- By passing the “mouse” on the image will appear two icons:

- Click the right icon to assign the media to your story.

A modal panel will appear with the following options:
- Assign to story media library
- Add to gallery
- Metadata
- Create field in channel
- Replace field in channel

Assign to story media library
This option assigns the media to the general story container. This media can then be re-used in any child channel story. The media gallery of the story displays all media within all sub-elements of the story such as channel stories.
Create field in channel
This option will add the media directly into a specific channel.
Choose the option “Create field in channel”:
- Select the Channel:
- Youtube
- (note: only media which is allowed to be assigned to the channel can be added – for example you can not add an image to a YouTube channel)
- Press the button “Assign”
- The video will appear on the Media tab and into the “Channel” of your story.

Replace field in channel
This option is similar to create field in channel but will replace an existing media item directly from a specific channel.
Metadata
This option is a special option and will be dealt in respective sections. It allows media to be assigned to story or project metadata where appropriate.
Managing media in the story gallery
You can also add media to a channel story from the general story media ‘bin’.
Choose the option “Add to gallery” and press the button “Assign”:
- The video will appear on the Media tab of your Story.
- By passing the “mouse” on the video, will appear two icons:
- Click the left icon to open “Media Player”.
- Click the right icon to “Delete” or “Assign”.

You can only remove media from the general story media ‘bin’ if it is not used anywhere in a channel story. If so it first has to be removed from all sub-elements of the story.
